About Jill McDaniel

Jill McDaniel is a Virginia gun rights writer and firearms instructor who founded Mom-At-Arms, a website that reports on gun-related developments across the country with an emphasis on individual rights and the Constitution. Raised in rural southern Virginia, she became active on social media and began blogging after the 2016 election, aiming to offer mothers a pro-Second Amendment alternative to the messaging of gun control groups, and acquired the Mom-At-Arms name for the site. The site has since grown to 10 to 15 contributors, mostly women, including crime victims, domestic violence survivors and self-defense advocates.

Beyond the website, McDaniel serves as Virginia State Director for The DC Project, the national effort that brings women gun owners to meet with lawmakers, and she is a USCCA certified instructor who teaches situational awareness courses. She is also an active supporter of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Her work illustrates how women-run media projects have broadened the range of voices speaking for gun owners.
