About Brian Enos

Brian Enos is an American practical pistol shooter and author whose ideas on technique and mental focus have shaped generations of competitors. During the 1980s and early 1990s he was one of the top names in action pistol shooting, winning the Bianchi Cup twice and The Masters, earning two U.S. National Steel Challenge titles in the Limited division and two silver medals at the World Steel Challenge Championship, and placing second in Standard division at the 1993 IPSC Handgun World Shoot in Bisley, England.

Enos is best known today for his 1990 book Practical Shooting: Beyond Fundamentals, which moved the conversation past grip and stance into awareness, visual focus and letting the shot happen. It remains a standard recommendation for USPSA, IPSC and Steel Challenge competitors and was reissued in a 2012 edition. After retiring from active competition in 2000, he started the Brian Enos forum, which became one of the largest online gathering places for the practical shooting community.
