About Edgar Antillon

Edgar Antillon is a Colorado firearms instructor and gun rights activist and a co-founder of Guns For Everyone, a Denver-area organization best known for offering free concealed carry classes. The three-hour class gives students the training certificate they need to begin a concealed carry permit application with their county sheriff, a step that typically costs $50 to $150 elsewhere. In January 2020 the group told KOAA News 5 that it had taught around 40,000 Coloradans since 2012, and it expanded that month to a new class location in Colorado Springs, in El Paso County, which the sheriff’s office said led the state in active carry permits.

Antillon is also known for repeated efforts to let lawful marijuana users obtain Colorado concealed carry permits. Because federal law bars “unlawful users” of controlled substances from possessing firearms, Colorado sheriffs cannot issue permits to people who are ineligible under federal law. In December 2014, as an organizer of the Colorado Campaign for Equal Gun Rights, he was working toward a November 2016 ballot question on the issue. In December 2023, Guns For Everyone began the process for a 2024 initiative that would bar sheriffs from using an applicant’s lawful marijuana use as a reason to deny a permit, which Antillon called a “freedom issue.”
