About Sandy Froman
Sandra S. “Sandy” Froman is an attorney and longtime National Rifle Association leader who served as NRA president from April 2005 to April 2007. Born in 1949 and raised in the San Francisco area, she earned a B.A. in economics with distinction from Stanford University in 1971 and a law degree from Harvard Law School in 1974. She has practiced law since 1974, including as a partner in three law firms, and has taught at a law school.
Froman joined the NRA Board of Directors in 1992, served five years as second vice president under Charlton Heston and two years as first vice president, and then became president of the association. In 2007 she was elected to a lifetime seat on the NRA Executive Council. She has written commentary on the Second Amendment for national outlets including Townhall.com, speaks widely on constitutional rights, and has served on advisory boards at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law and George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School. For gun owners, she is one of the most experienced legal voices to hold the NRA’s top office.
