About Frank Tait
Frank Tait is a firearms instructor, Second Amendment organizer, and former member of the National Rifle Association Board of Directors. An NRA Training Counselor and Chief Range Safety Officer, he has taught NRA rifle, shotgun, and Range Safety Officer instructor courses, and he was part of the group that carried the Appleseed Project’s rifle marksmanship and heritage program beyond its North Carolina origins. He went on to found Revere’s Riders, an organization that combines shooting sports, American history, and civic engagement, with a focus on the events leading to April 19, 1775, and the people of the Revolutionary War. He serves as its Secretary and teaches its Rifle 125 class at Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club in Pennsylvania.
Tait campaigned for the NRA board over several election cycles as a reform candidate, calling for a smaller, more efficient board and better succession planning. He later served a brief term on the board as an outspoken critic of then Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre. In spring 2023 he announced that his term had ended and that he would not run in 2024. He continues to write about NRA governance on his Substack.
