About Cobra Enterprises

Cobra Enterprises was a Salt Lake City, Utah, maker of inexpensive derringers, pocket pistols and revolvers founded in 2001 and renamed Cobra Enterprises of Utah, Inc. in 2004. The company acquired the rights and tooling of several earlier low-cost handgun makers, including Davis Industries, Republic Arms and Talon Industries, and it is often grouped with the Southern California manufacturers known as the “Ring of Fire” companies because of that lineage. Its catalog included over-and-under derringers in calibers from .22 LR to .380 ACP, the CA and Freedom series pistols in .32 ACP and .380 ACP, the polymer-frame Patriot pistols inherited from Republic Arms in .380 ACP, 9mm and .45 ACP, and the Shadow snubnose revolver in .38 Special.

For many buyers on a budget, Cobra products offered an affordable route to a carry gun or a first handgun. The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on February 24, 2020, and is no longer in business. Its derringer designs were later sold to Bearman Industries, which in turn sold rights to the Big Bore and Classic derringer models to Old West Firearms.
