About Wolfe Publishing
Wolfe Publishing Company is a family-owned firearms publisher based in Prescott, Arizona. Its story began in 1966, when Dave Wolfe left a magazine he had co-founded to start Handloader, a magazine devoted entirely to reloading ammunition. In 1969 the company added Rifle, a magazine focused on rifles and known for technical writing that stays accessible to everyday shooters. Both titles have remained in continuous publication for more than five decades, and Handloader celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2026.
For reloaders and riflemen, Wolfe’s magazines cover load data, cartridges, ballistics and rifle testing. In 2026 the company’s portfolio included Handloader, Rifle & Handgun, Varmint Rifles & Cartridges, Black Powder Cartridge News and the LoadData.com online load database, with Jeremiah Polacek as editor in chief. Starting with the January/February 2026 issue (No. 344), Rifle was rebranded as Rifle & Handgun, with each issue carrying three rifle-focused and three handgun-focused features and columns.
