About Lipsey’s
Lipsey’s is one of the country’s largest independently owned firearms distributors, headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was founded in 1953 as a wholesale hunting and fishing distributor and over the following decades turned its focus to firearms, ammunition and accessories, selling exclusively to federally licensed dealers. Laurie Lipsey Aronson was serving as President and CEO when the company accepted its 2017 industry awards. Lipsey’s also distributes suppressors and short-barreled rifles and is recognized in the trade for its knowledge of National Firearms Act regulations.
Lipsey’s is best known among shooters for its distributor-exclusive firearms, developed with manufacturers such as Ruger. Examples include the Ruger Bisley Flattop in .44 Special announced in 2010 a long-barreled Ruger Bearcat featured in 2017, and multiple Ruger No. 1 rifle configurations. At SHOT Show 2017, the company was named NSSF SHOT Business Distributor of the Year and received distributor awards from several manufacturers. In 2025 and 2026 it continued to add manufacturer partnerships, including Rost Martin pistols in December 2025 and Magpul Industries products in January 2026.
