About Stephanie Schafer
Stephanie Schafer is a Nebraska firearms instructor and Second Amendment advocate who has held several leadership roles with The DC Project, the nonpartisan effort that brings women gun owners from every state to Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers. She has served as the project’s Nebraska Director, as Northwest Regional Director overseeing several states in addition to her own, and on its advisory board. In those roles she has encouraged women to get involved in civics, from testifying to running for local or state office, and has met with state legislators.
Schafer is also a facilitator for the WyoBraska Chapter of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, teaching women gun safety, shooting fundamentals and their rights. She has taught for more than five years as an NRA and Nebraska concealed handgun permit instructor and co-runs a shooting school that wrote its own curriculum for the Nebraska concealed carry course. After becoming an instructor she also took up 3-gun competition. Her work reflects the growth of women-led training and advocacy networks that are bringing new gun owners into the Second Amendment community.
