About Mark Walters
Mark Walters is a nationally syndicated radio host and gun rights advocate based in the Atlanta area. He founded Armed American Radio in April 2009 as a one-hour show heard only in the Atlanta market, and built it into a nationally syndicated program distributed by the Salem Radio Network. By 2021 the program was described as heard on nearly 250 stations, with a Sunday night flagship show and a weekday program, Armed American Radio Daily Defense. Walters is also CEO of CCW Broadcast Media, the company behind the broadcasts, and co-author of books including Lessons from Armed America with Kathy Jackson.
Walters is a familiar voice at gun rights events. He also drew national attention in an early legal test of artificial intelligence: he sued OpenAI for defamation in Georgia state court after ChatGPT output falsely stated he had been accused of embezzlement in a Second Amendment Foundation lawsuit to which he was not a party. In May 2025 the court granted summary judgment to OpenAI, ending the case. Armed American Radio remains on the air in 2026.
