About Julie Golob

Julie Golob is one of the most accomplished competitive handgun shooters in the United States, with titles spanning USPSA, IPSC, IDPA, Steel Challenge, Bianchi Cup and ICORE. She began shooting at 14 and joined the U.S. Army in 1994 as a member of its Action Shooting Team. In 1999 she won the Limited and Open divisions at USPSA Nationals and was named U.S. Army Athlete of the Year. She left the Army in 2002 to shoot professionally, joined Team Smith & Wesson in 2006, and that year became the first woman to win three USPSA National divisions. In 2011 she became the first shooter to have won all six USPSA divisions. Her record includes 13 USPSA Lady National Championships, four IDPA Ladies National Championships and seven Ladies Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting titles.

Beyond the match circuit, Golob has been a visible advocate for new shooters, women and families in the shooting sports, and she appeared as an expert on the fourth season of the History Channel’s Top Shot in 2012. In August 2025 she announced that she had left Smith & Wesson to join Springfield Armory, so references to her as a Smith & Wesson team captain reflect her earlier sponsorship.
