About Beretta USA
Beretta USA is the American arm of Beretta, the Italian company founded in Gardone in 1526 and often described as the world’s oldest firearms manufacturer, still controlled by the Beretta family. Beretta entered U.S. manufacturing in 1977, when it acquired F.I. Industries in Accokeek, Maryland, an expansion led by Ugo Gussalli Beretta. The American operation rose to national prominence in early 1985, when the Beretta 92, designated the M9, won selection as the standard sidearm of the U.S. Armed Forces, a role it held for about 35 years.
After Maryland passed new gun control legislation in 2013, Beretta announced in July 2014 that it would move all manufacturing to a new plant in Gallatin, Tennessee, about 30 miles northeast of Nashville. The $45 million facility celebrated its opening on April 15, 2016, with all handgun, shotgun and rifle production moving there, while some administrative and service work stayed in Accokeek at the time. Beretta USA’s lineup includes the 92 series, the APX pistols and the A300 shotgun family, and the 92 series remains in use with military and law enforcement agencies.
