About Henry Repeating Arms
Henry Repeating Arms is one of the largest rifle makers in the United States and the best-known name in modern lever-action rifles. Anthony Imperato and his father, Louis Imperato, founded the company in Brooklyn, New York in 1996. Its first product, the H001 Classic Lever Action .22, shipped in March 1997 and remains its signature rifle; the one millionth H001 was built in 2017. The company uses the Henry name made famous by Benjamin Tyler Henry’s 1860 rifle, and its motto is “Made in America, or Not Made at All.”
Henry has grown steadily. It bought a large plant in Rice Lake, Wisconsin in 2006, moved its offices from Brooklyn to Bayonne, New Jersey in 2008, and began building complete centerfire rifles in Rice Lake in 2014. In 2023 it produced more than 400,000 firearms, ranking fifth among U.S. manufacturers. In spring 2025 the company announced it would move its headquarters and operations out of New Jersey to Wisconsin, and as of 2026 it lists Rice Lake as its home base, with Anthony Imperato as owner and CEO and Andy Wickstrom as president.
