a team-based youth development program that uses the shotgun sports of trap, skeet, and sporting clays to instill life skills such as discipline, safety, teamwork, ethics, self-confidence and other life values

  • 2000 founded and funded by the partnership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation and the Amateur Trapshooting Association
    (American Trap was the only program)
  • 2002 the National Skeet Shooting Association and the National Sporting Clay Association joined the partnership
    (American Skeet and Sporting Clays added)
  • 2007 the SSSF (Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation) was created as a public charity

    Scholastic Clay Target Program

  • 2012 the Scholastic Action Shooting Program was added
  • USA Shooting became involved
    (Olympic Games, Bunker Trap and International Skeet were added)

USA Veterans Rifle Team

1999

 

  • brainchild of Scotty Nicholas of New Zealand (NZ)
  • an individual at least 60 years of age the year of the competition
  • 1995 first Veterans Rifle team match was held
  • 1999 third match
  • 1999 USA Veterans Team was the first official USA Veterans Rifle Team ever to represent the United States.
  • The trophy is made from a very unique piece of tree trunk that is indigenous to New Zealand

International Defensive Pistol Association is the international organization governing a type of pistol events requiring practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. Civilian Marksmanship Program

  • February 10, 1996 Title XVI of the National Defense Authorization Act for 1996 created the CMP

that created the Corporation for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and Firearms Safety, Inc. (CPRPFS, the formal legal name of the CMP)

 In carrying out the Civilian Marksmanship Program, the corporation shall give priority to activities that benefit firearms safety, training, and competition for youth and that reach as many youth participants as possible.

USA Shooting

Amateur Sports Act of 1978

1978 – the National Governing Body for shooting at the time established National Teams and National Development Teams, a national coaching staff, year-round training programs, and a main training site for Olympic shooting sports.

Military Marksmanship Association

Military Marksmanship Association is primarily the alumni group of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, but includes alumni of other military marksmanship programs too. The USAMU trains Army shooters to compete in National and International shooting events.

  • March 23, 2004, the Internal Revenue Service recognized the association as a tax exempt Veteran’s Organization under IRC section 501(c)(19)

  • Past or present members of the U.S. Armed Forces must provide their branch of military service and the dates of their military service and other applicants must check mark the appropriate block on the Membership Application Form.
