About DIVA WOW
DIVA Women Outdoors Worldwide (DIVA WOW) is a Dallas, Texas-based organization that introduces women to shooting, hunting and fishing through clinics and guided outdoor trips. Founder Judy Rhodes grew up on a Texas ranch and joined the board of the Women’s Shooting Sports Foundation, an arm of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, in 1999. When that foundation dissolved, she started the group that began as the Texas Divas and later grew into DIVA WOW. Its motto is “Women Helping Women, Women Teaching Women, Women Supporting Women,” and it uses volunteer “liaisons” rather than formal chapters.
DIVA WOW gives women a welcoming entry point into the shooting sports, taught by other women. By 2009, Shotgun Life reported that the group had members in 49 states and 15 foreign countries and had taught more than 800 women to shoot a shotgun. DIVA WOW also produced the television series Divas in the Outdoors and has sponsored a beginner shotgun clinic and Ladies Open at the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) Nationals. Rhodes has also written about women in the outdoors for the Savage Arms blog.
