About Taurus
Taurus is the U.S. arm of Taurus Armas S.A., the Brazilian maker once called Forjas Taurus. The company started in Brazil as a tool and forging business and has made revolvers for more than eight decades. In the United States it became widely known for its revolvers and pistols. For almost 40 years its U.S. operations were based in Miami, Florida. In April 2018 Taurus announced it would move its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing to Bainbridge, Georgia.
The Bainbridge plant is about 200,000 square feet: 180,000 for manufacturing and 20,000 for offices, on a 73-acre site. Construction began in September 2018, and the first Bainbridge-marked gun came off the line in August 2019. The plant builds Taurus pistols such as the G3 series and GX4, Executive series revolvers, the Judge, and Heritage revolvers and rifles. Rossi revolvers returned to production there in 2023. In 2021 the plant shipped 290,780 Taurus handguns and 505,601 Heritage rifles and revolvers. That makes Taurus one of the larger handgun suppliers to American shooters and gives it a sizable U.S. manufacturing presence.
