The Rhode Island Revolver and Rifle Association is the Flagship gun rights organization in the State of Rhode Island.

1936 – founded

To promote and encourage all phases of shooting sports within the State of Rhode Island.

To foster a climate within the State of Rhode Island which encourages ownership and legal use of all legal types of firearms by the law abiding citizens of the state.

To encourage and promote legislation to preserve the legal ownership and use of firearms for all law abiding citizens of the State of Rhode Island.

To encourage and promote firearm safety and education within the State of Rhode Island.

To conduct contests of marksmanship with firearms.

National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association is the National Governing Body for most black powder shooting competitions in the USA. They hold a Spring National and Fall National at their home range in Friendship, Indiana, plus a Winter National in Phoenix, Arizona. They sanction events for black powder rifles, pistols, shotguns including primitive events.

Joseph Tartaro

Joseph P. Tartaro

Joseph Tartaro was a well-known American firearms rights activist and president of the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF). He served in the United States Marine Corps and later became a full-time firearms activist. Tartaro was been involved in firearm owner rights organizations, including the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), which he co-founded in 1971, and the International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights (IAPCAR). He has been a vocal advocate for gun rights and has written extensively on firearms issues, receiving several awards for his work in the firearm owners rights movement.

Tartaro has been a vocal advocate for gun rights and has testified before Congress on numerous occasions. He has also written extensively on firearms issues and is the author of several books, including “The Great American Gun Debate: Essays on Firearms and Violence” and “The Gun Rights Fact Book”. He has received numerous awards for his work in the firearms rights movement, including the NRA’s Harlon B. Carter Award in 1991 and the CCRKBA’s Gun Rights Defender of the Year award in 2013.

  • 1979 retired from competition
  • 1979 His training facility became the home of the Bianchi Cup
  • retired from the Academy in 1995
