About Rachel Malone
Rachel Malone is a Texas gun rights lobbyist and grassroots organizer best known for her work with Gun Owners of America (GOA) at the Texas Capitol. She has said her interest in gun policy began in 2011, when an open carry bill failed in the Texas Senate. In 2012 she founded Texas Firearms Freedom, a group that trained ordinary citizens to follow bills, contact legislators and testify at committee hearings. Before joining GOA she worked for the Republican Party of Texas, including as its Operations Director.
After GOA brought her on around 2018 to lead its Texas effort, she spent successive legislative sessions mobilizing gun owners to testify in Austin. That work contributed to the passage of House Bill 1927, the 2021 law that allows most adults 21 and older to carry a handgun in Texas without a license. She has also written commentary on Texas gun legislation for Texas Scorecard and co-hosted the Polite Society Podcast, a gun rights talk show.
