About U.S. Ordnance

U.S. Ordnance, Inc. (USORD) is a Nevada defense manufacturer founded in 1997 and based in McCarran, Nevada, about 20 minutes outside Reno. It specializes in belt-fed machine guns, especially versions of the M60 family, including the Mk43/M60E4 and M60D Enhanced, and the Browning M2 .50 caliber heavy machine gun in M2HB and quick-change-barrel M2A2 configurations, along with the M48 and conversion kits. The company operates a 68,000-square-foot plant for research, development, manufacturing and testing.

U.S. Ordnance became a key supplier of the M60 after February 2006, when much of the Army-owned M60 production tooling moved from General Dynamics in Saco, Maine, to its Nevada plant. Since then it has filled large U.S. government contracts, many for Foreign Military Sales to allies. From November 2004 to May 2009, orders for foreign allies totaled 3,196 M60E4/Mk43 machine guns, and in 2008 the Army ordered 859 M2HB guns for the Afghan National Army. A 2009 small-business contract for the M2 Flex machine gun allowed for up to 40,000 guns.
