About Magpul Industries
Magpul Industries is an American maker of firearm accessories best known for the PMAG polymer magazine, a standard item in AR-15 owners’ range bags and in military and law enforcement armories. The company was founded in 1999 in Colorado by Richard M. Fitzpatrick, a former U.S. Marine Corps Force Recon sergeant. Its name comes from its first product, the MagPul, a loop that helps shooters pull a magazine from a pouch. Magpul landed its first military order in 2002, 100 M93 stocks for the Marine Corps, and later won large magazine contracts with the British Ministry of Defence and the U.S. Marine Corps.
Magpul matters to gun owners for its products and for its public stand on magazine limits. In 2013 the company said it would leave Colorado if lawmakers banned magazines holding more than 15 rounds. When House Bill 13-1224 passed, Magpul kept its word. On January 2, 2014 it announced it would move production, distribution and shipping to Cheyenne, Wyoming, and its corporate headquarters to Austin, Texas. As of 2026 Magpul remains active, with a product line that includes stocks, grips, sights, slings and magazines for many rifle and pistol platforms.
