About Michael Sodini

Michael Sodini is a firearms industry veteran whose family has worked in the gun business for three generations as an importer, and he is the founder of Walk The Talk America (WTTA), a nonprofit created by people from within the firearm industry to reduce firearm suicides and gun negligence. Rather than treating gun owners as the problem, WTTA works from inside the gun community, using education and proactive risk-identification programs to raise awareness of mental health and to give responsible gun owners practical tools. Sodini co-founded the organization in June 2018.

Early on, WTTA formed a partnership with Mental Health America, the national mental health nonprofit, formally launched at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The partners planned outreach to gun sellers and ranges with suicide prevention resources and warning-sign materials, offered MHA’s anonymous online mental health screening through the WTTA website, and set out to build a certification program that trains retail and range staff to recognize warning signs and respond. Sodini spoke at the 2A Rally for Your Rights in Washington, D.C., on November 2, 2019, and WTTA has continued to expand industry partnerships, including a May 2026 Mental Health Awareness Month collaboration with optics maker EOTech.
